Peer-to-peer recruitment is a human-to-human practice wherein experts deal with people, aspirations, ambitions, and fears. You ask a candidate, and they will tell you how a caring recruiter makes a world of difference in their job-search experience.

Usually, platform companies in the staffing industry are business-to-consumer (B2C), business-to-business (B2B), and consumer-to-consumer (C2C) companies. But, with how things are moving forward, platform companies will have to pave a path as peer-to-peer (P2P). These platforms would aim at more than just matching the job to the right candidate. Still, they would also try to influence the candidate and the employer.

Amidst the war for acquiring the best talent, the workforce solutions ecosystem has opened doors to the concept of the candidate as a client. However, experts believe there’s still a lot of work to be done.

“Staffing companies should focus on pivoting to platform business models that connect the client with candidates while enabling gainful work outcomes,” says Atul Jagnale, chief technical officer, of software and professional services for TCS.

To combat the challenges in this environment, TCS is focused on providing a framework for enhancing the experiences of users and meeting the job seeker’s needs. This helps address the redeployment element from the perspective of staffing firms.

The main idea behind this is to help staffing companies move forward in a more seamless and automated process, leaving the value-added tasks to the people, enhancing the user experience, keeping the workforce engaged throughout their assignment lifecycle, and much beyond. The goal of TCS is to make what they believe is a ubiquitous influence of the peer-to-peer platform for developing a clear understanding of the workforce solutions ecosystem despite facing many challenges around trust and adoption.

What Does the Future of the Platform Revolution Look Like?

From the platform’s future perspective, experts believe the P2P (peer-to-peer) will become more algorithmic and autonomous. For instance, if a potential candidate applies for a job and gives an interview, the algorithms will ensure that if they do not get that job, they may have something else to match with the candidate instead of directly rejecting the candidate.

Experts believe the most significant change to be a peer-to-peer platform. This platform would not be a single platform; instead, be a combination of multiple platforms that will come together to serve a purpose. And that’s the beginning of the evolution of the industry.

However, Atul Jagnale, the CTO- of Software and Professional Services, TCS, believes that the most significant change is that today’s platforms are sponsored by someone else, such as a recruitment company or Web 3.0. The decentralization will happen as there won’t be a single platform; instead, multiple platforms will come together and serve the purpose. And, it’s here that the industry will evolve and visualize great things in the future to achieve seamless recruitment, which is merely about the employer’s requirements in the end.

Multiple platforms will make sure that the entire value cycle is seamless for both the candidate and the employer. That is where experts believe it to be heading. They must think of focusing on the recruitment firms, participating in an ecosystem, and managing the relationship at both ends.
